There are many strolls to take around Punta del Este. It has beautiful gardens with flowers brought from differents parts of the world that make this city a Garden City. Its streets and avenues and its fantastic mansions make Punta del Este to be one of the most beautiful and safest places to go for vacations.

Peninsula
There were many visionary men who, since the beginning, marked the destiny of this beach town, which today is considered an international tourist destination and which is estrategically located where the Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean converge. Many activities can be enjoyed here,like taking a walk along Gorlero avenue, visiting the Art galleries, shopping on 20th Street, where the great designers have their Boutiques. Other interesting things that can be done are visiting the Handcraft fair, going for a coffee at the cafes next to the port and watch the sunset. The port of Punta del Este is the place where the young crowd meet every night before dancing.

Punta Ballena
There are few places in the world where you can enjoy the sunset as at Punta Ballena. The Panoramica route, just on the hills, allows you to see Portezuelo and Maldonado Bay.You can also see the Arboretum Lussich, a fantastic place built by Antonio Lussich, who brought plants from all over the world and made this place a must-visit at Punta del Este. If you go to the hump of the whale you will be marveled by a mediterrranean-style construction named Casapueblo. It is Carlos Paéz Vilaró atelier, famous uruguayan artist who also designed it. There are many sport activities that can be done here like trekking, surfing, windsurfing which can also be done at Laguna del Sauce, another beautiful eco-place close to Punta Ballena.

Maldonado
The capital of Maldonado department is also a beautiful colonial city. Its population is 50000 and is the place where the City Government works. It has museums, libraries, private and public educational centers, private universities and a busy commercial center. Its population mostly works at the peninsula and its surrounding area.

La Barra
It used to be a fishing town, now is the chic place to go for vacation and enjoy the nightlife. Located only few miles from the peninsula, it is the must-go place. The rich and famous can be seen anytime. It has its own construction styleand there you can see colorful houses, flea markets, fantastic restaurants and pubs.La Barra began to be called the Art Circuit because the quality of its Art Gallery exhibitions which you can attend every night. The beaches you can find here are Montoya, Bikini, Manantiales, El Chorro y Punta Piedras.

José Ignacio
A fishtown style place, has become a very exclusive beach town. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, having minimalistic-rustic- style constructions, far from the discoclubs and the urban noise of the peninsula, is the place chosen for those who want to be in contact with Nature without leaving their sophistication. The high point of this little town is its gastronomy, sought for gourmets who want to enjoy one of the best seafood of the world.

Rural Area
The agro-tourism can be enjoyed by those who love the agriculture and farms. Many guided visits can be done all over the rural area. You can go to a farm and learn how to make Dulce de Leche, cheese, or just eat some Panqueques de Dulce de Leche. These peaceful places have also something else which is the friendliness of the people. They will invite you to share an Asado con Cuero -uruguayan-style barbacue- , play the Spanish guitar and sing for you, or invite you for a horseback ride.
